Booed by the Marseille crowd during his big debut at the Vélodrome, Elye Wahi received a warning from one of his teammates.

Having arrived in Marseille this summer from Lens for 25 million euros, Elye Wahi scored in his first match in his new colours. However, during his first match at the Vélodrome, on 25 August against Reims (2-2), the 21-year-old striker was roundly booed by the Marseille crowd when he was substituted. The reason? His lack of efficiency in front of goal during the match.

During an interview with BFM Marseille, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who also arrived in the Phocaean city this summer, returned to his whistles at the Vélodrome against the former Lens player.

“If we don’t want the pressure, we go elsewhere”

“I didn’t see it whistled. But when you play for Marseille, in a stadium like that with such passionate and important supporters, of course there is pressure, there is a demand every day and every week to work hard and give your all ” said the Danish midfielder.

And to add: ” In my opinion, we are lucky to be in such a situation, to live such an experience, to have this atmosphere, this strength at our backs. Because we can do important things. When you are a big club like Marseille, yes there is pressure. If we don’t want the pressure, we go elsewhere.
