At the end of October, the winner of the new Ballon d’Or will be announced. Among the favorites is the Spanish European champion, Rodri. The latter is not unaware of the fact that he has a real chance of winning. Better still, he already sees himself lifting the trophy.
Speaking to ESPN, the Manchester City player admitted that the award did not leave him indifferent. “It would be a dream for me to win the Ballon d’Or, it would be a source of pride. In the street, people tell me: you’re going to win the Ballon d’Or, you deserve it. For me, that means I’m already a winner,” he let go.
Rodri, 64 years later?
It is worth noting that in the history of the competition, there has only been one Spanish winner. It was Luis Suarez in 1960. In other words, an eternity. So it is time to put an end to this drought.
If he wins the BO, Rodri will succeed where several of his illustrious compatriots have failed. Raul, Iniesta and Xavi, for example, all finished in second place in the ranking. To do so, however, he will have to triumph over the competition. This is mainly represented by the Real Madrid duo, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr.
