John Textor had decided to call the press this Wednesday to discuss the news of Olympique Lyonnais, and in particular this transfer window which has been “very strange” by his own admission. Even though the Rhone club started the season badly, with two defeats and one victory, the American boss believes that Pierre Sage’s team “is much stronger” than last season.
This is what allows Textor to have great ambitions.
“We can always grow as a team with great prospects for the future, but yes, it is still a failure if we do not return to the Champions League. It is a failure if we do not win the championship”he proclaimed, in comments reported by RMC.
Beat PSG
Textor hopes that his club can be a real threat to Paris Saint-Germain. “We have two games against PSG. We have to win at least one. We beat them in terms of points in the second half of last season. They have a great team, but our ambition is to beat everyone in the league and finish at the top of the table.”
OL finished 6th in Ligue 1 last season after being in the relegation zone for a long time. Les Gones also reached the final of the Coupe de France and will play in the Europa League this year.
