Marcus Thuram has made a perfect start to the Serie A season with Inter Milan. The striker was voted the Italian League’s Player of the Month for August.

The Italian championship has only been back for three days and Marcus Thuram has already been in the spotlight. After three first days of the championship, the French striker from Inter Milan has stood out by scoring four goals, with two braces to his name. In competition with five other players, Thuram has therefore won the majority of votes.

Marcus Thuram’s son was thus preferred to Saul Coco (Torino), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Naples), Mateo Retegui (Atalanta), Dennis Man (Parma) and Dusan Vlahovic (Juventus). This Serie A player of the month trophy for August also marks the history of French football since it is the first time since Franck Ribéry (September 2019) that a French player has received this award.

Continue the momentum

Present with the French team during the September gathering, Marcus Thuram did not have the opportunity to show all his talent, he who had to be content with a substitute role against Italy. Coming into play against the National that the Blues faced on September 6, the striker could do nothing to prevent the defeat (1-3). Three days later, he was a starter against Belgium but he did not find the back of the net. His performance was however judged to be correct.

He will now return to his club with a trip scheduled for Sunday on the Monza pitch, as part of the fourth day of Serie A. A trip that seems affordable for Inter to the fifteenth-placed team who have still not won a single match (two draws and one defeat). Marcus Thuram may have the opportunity to justify his player of the month award, and why not continue on his momentum to aim for the double.
