José Mourinho decided to take on a new challenge last July by taking charge of Fenerbahçe. The Portuguese coach is thus experiencing his first experience outside of the five major European leagues since the 2003-2004 season, when, after leading Porto to the top, he joined Chelsea. As a reminder, the “Special One” was sacked by AS Roma last January, after two and a half years on the Giallorossi bench.
In an interview with the Turkish media HT SportMourinho has claimed that he still has the energy to prolong his career for at least another decade. Which is probably why
He is not currently considering becoming a national team coach..
Mourinho takes on the pressure
“I have at least 10 more years of my career ahead of me. I’m not going to stop after two years at Fenerbahçe. I have at least 10 more years.”confided the “Mou”.
The 61-year-old also talks about the difference in pressure he feels between his time at Stamford Bridge and his current experience with the Istanbul club.
“When I was at Chelsea, I was 10 minutes from home and I would walk home after the games. In Turkey, I wouldn’t even be able to walk 10 metres. But I love the pressure and the way people experience football. It’s great to be able to work in a big city with a lot of clubs. It was the same in London, even if you can’t compare it to what we experience here in Istanbul,” Mourinho said.
