This is the big transfer of this summer transfer window 2024. As expected for several years, Kylian Mbappé left Paris Saint-Germain after seven turbulent seasons with rumors of departure to officially join Real Madrid, a club desired by the French striker for years. He signed a contract until June 2029 and even wore the number 9: “Real Madrid CF and Kylian Mbappé have reached an agreement whereby he will be a Real Madrid player for the next five seasons”was written in the official press release published on the Madrid club’s website. A well-crafted agreement with the assurance of having the status of the highest paid player in the team for the next five seasons with a salary set at around 15 million euros net, but also a bonus of 100 million euros, 100% of the profits from his advertising contracts signed before signing at the Casa Blanca and 30% for those initialed after. With his departure from PSG, Kylian Mbappé can now live his childhood dream with serenity and calm.

Despite a lackluster start, the Bondy player quickly won over the Madrid public, particularly during this historic presentation at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in front of tens of thousands of supporters. In Paris, while the loss of the captain of the Blues (the club’s top scorer last season) could have repercussions over the long term throughout this new season, the first matches played by Luis Enrique’s troops in the 2024/2025 version are very positive and everyone seems to have already turned the page. Especially since Kylian Mbappé was taking up a lot of space both in the collective system and in the media space with new episodes every week between curious statements, a dominant entourage and new rumors at each transfer window. On this last point, our colleagues from The Team tell us more in their edition of the day.

A verbal agreement with the Reds and a Saudi offer!

The next page of Kylian Mbappé’s career could have been written far from Madrid and Spain. Indeed, according to information from The Teamthe now former PSG player was disappointed with the direction of the Parisian sports project in the summer of 2022 after the unfulfilled promises on the transfer window, notably around the aborted arrivals of Bernardo Silva and Robert Lewandowski. A few months after extending his contract, the Bondynois had thus taken the decision to accept an offer from an English club and not the least since Liverpool had sent a proposal of 200 million euros to PSG and the management of the Reds had even found a contractual agreement with Mbappé on the short term, thus not blocking him in his desire to quickly join Real Madrid, the player’s main objective since the beginning. Sporting director in charge of directions at the time, Antero Henrique had rejected the advances of the club then coached by Jürgen Klopp and had even demanded double the initial offer, namely an amount of 400 million euros.

Furious with his management, Kylian Mbappé had even asked not to play the first day of Ligue 1 against Clermont (5-0). Something that PSG had accepted, officially claiming to the league an injury. At that time, Real Madrid had also submitted an offer, immediately declined by the Parisian management. Still according to information from The Teamtwo sources close to the club contradict each other today about this very special summer. On the one hand, one person firmly denies this information about a close transfer of Mbappé to Liverpool but nevertheless mentions “a Saudi offer” as the only proposal accepted by PSG after 2022. On the other hand, another confirms an oral approach from the Reds to the player. In any case, we are still learning more about the behind the scenes of Kylian Mbappé’s end at Paris Saint-Germain and the standoff with the club seems to have started in the summer of 2022 when the player was suffering “mentally” according to a club source relayed by the French newspaper.
