Not surprisingly,
Vincent Labrune was elected to head the presidency of the Professional Football LeagueTuesday, at the end of a one-sided vote. With more than 85% of the votes collected, the outgoing president therefore retains his functions for a new 4-year term, until 2028.
However, many observers have pointed out the opacity of this election. With a powerful network, Vincent Labrune had many supporters in the French football family to beat his only competitor, Cyril Linette.
“We must pull together to move forward and plug the holes in the ship.”
Among Vincent Labrune’s loyal supporters were the presidents of Stade de Reims and Montpellier HSC, Jean-Pierre Caillot and Laurent Nicollin. The latter did not hide his connections and clearly displayed his satisfaction after the result.
“If we support him, it’s because we have confidence in him, in his ability to move mountains and do great things. There were good decisions, others less good. Now, we’re leaving for four years, we have to stick together to move forward and plug the holes that there are on the ship.”Nicollin told L’Équipe.
