A former Manchester United player is set to end up behind bars.

Former Manchester United midfielder Anderson is currently doing everything he can to avoid jail in Brazil.

According to The Sun, the 36-year-old former Auriverde international was sentenced to prison for non-payment of alimony. The decision was taken last week by the Porto Alegre court.

A sad end for this former Manchester player

A city where he will serve his 30-day sentence in a semi-open regime, meaning he will have the possibility of going out and working outside the prison during the day, but he will have to return there to spend the night.

Anderson could also escape prison if he ever pays the €53,000 he is owed for his children. This is a far cry from the trajectory he imagined when he helped win the double in 2008 with Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and company.
