Vincent Labrune has just been re-elected as head of the LFP. He is starting a new term despite a relatively disappointing overall record. A triumph that should satisfy him. However, during his first speech, he did not seem particularly jumping for joy.
The former OM president took advantage of this moment of glory to settle his scores with those who have pointed the finger at him in recent weeks. “A lively, dense, dynamic, violent campaign. It is undoubtedly a reflection of our society, of the political debate that we have been able to observe elsewhere. Personally, I regret, on the part of a minority of you, the excesses and outrages towards me. I was hurt by certain remarks.”
Labrune has his work cut out for him
The other subject that annoys Labrune is piracy. He called for an end to this scourge as soon as possible: “We must work to create value together with DAZN. So, starting tomorrow morning, we have planned a Ligue 1 college with all the clubs to see how we can accelerate the success of this platform. We can push hard for the fight against piracy which is a scourge. Only we can fight against this and we will do our utmost to make it a success.”
Regarding his re-election, Labrune confided: “There were a lot of discussions. Each candidate was able to express themselves, present their projects. The ballot boxes spoke and we are satisfied with it. For four years, we have launched a very ambitious structural reform plan in the face of the crises we are going through. Starting tomorrow, we will move on to phase 2. We have to reinvent ourselves, because professional football today is not the one we have known in recent years.”
