The summer was another spendthrift one for Manchester United. With 214.5 million euros spent to welcome Leny Yoro (Lille), Manuel Ugarte (Paris Saint-Germain), Matthijs de Ligt (Bayern Munich), Joshua Zirkzee (Bologna) and Noussair Mazraoui (Bayern Munich), the English team strengthened accordingly to provide its coach Erik ten Hag with the means to achieve his ambitions.

For the moment, this is not really reflected on the pitch as the Red Devils are fourteenth and coming off a 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool. An unpleasant period for the Red Devils who will have to pull themselves together as current coach Erik ten Hag is once again being questioned. While it is still unclear whether he will be there next summer, the English club is in any case targeting a player for next season.

80M€ to put on the table

Indeed, The Manchester Evening Newsannounces that the Red Devils have checked the name of Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze (26 years old). The England international (8 caps), who played in Euro 2024, has started the season on a good footing (2 goals in 4 matches) and is coming off a convincing season with 11 goals and 6 assists in 31 matches with the Eagles. Referenced in the Premier League, he will nevertheless cost 80 million euros.

Indeed, the London club has set his release clause at this price while his contract runs until June 2027. Manchester United would be interested in this possibility and will have to align themselves to hope to attract the former QPR and Wycombe Wanderers player. A hell of a price since he would become the club’s 6th biggest investment behind Paul Pogba (€105M), Antony (€95M), Harry Maguire (€87M), Jadon Sancho (€85M) and Romelu Lukaku (€84.7M).
