Things are going badly for PSG

At least three Paris Saint-Germain players were injured this week during the international break. Bad news for Luis Enrique.

It feels like we’re reliving the saga every year. International windows always have this tendency to cause damage to players, and Paris Saint-Germain is particularly affected this September by what is called the “Fifa virus”.

This week, three players from the capital club suffered a physical problem. Vitinha injured his ankle with Portugal, as did Désiré Doué with the French U21 team. While he came on at the end of the match, Warren Zaïre-Emery also ended up with a calf injury with Didier Deschamps’ Blues.

The hardest hit are Vitinha and Zaire-Emery, who are out of their national team’s next matches. Logically, we can consider both men as uncertain for PSG’s next match, namely the reception of Brest next Saturday in Ligue 1. Then there will be the Champions League debut against Girona, four days later.

Vitinha and Zaire-Emery were starters in PSG’s first matches this season in Ligue 1. Their absence could force Luis Enrique to review his midfield for the upcoming matches.
