Erling Haaland is set to sign a new contract with Manchester City. The Norwegian striker’s current deal runs until 2027. According to Marca, negotiations for a new deal are now at an advanced stage.

However, the new deal will include a buyout clause, with Haaland in the crosshairs of La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona. This detail will therefore favour both the Scandinavian striker and the Sky Blues board, who will be able to sell their star player for a high price.

Haaland to pass De Bruyne

With this new deal, Haaland will become the highest paid player in the Premier League. His teammate Kevin de Bruyne currently occupies the top spot in this ranking with a salary of €23.9 million per year. Haaland’s current contract, however, is “only” worth €22.4 million.

Haaland, who has been at City for two years, is enjoying an exceptional start to the season. In just three league games he has scored seven goals, including a hat-trick on the final day.
