PSG: Luis Enrique, extension not validated

While a contract extension for Luis Enrique at PSG has been mentioned, this hypothesis does not necessarily have unanimous support within the ranks of the capital club.

A French champion title, a French Cup and an epic run to the semi-finals of the Champions League with a game plan focused on the collective: Luis Enrique had a very intense first year on the bench of the
Paris Saint-Germain. And Year II started in the best possible way for the Spanish coach, whose team scored 13 goals in its first 3 matches in official competition.

“Happy” in Paris, Luis Enrique also benefits from a good popularity rating among the supporters of the capital club. Above all, the former coach of Spain can boast of being in phase with the president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, who never ceases to be complimentary towards him. Enough to consider a short-term extension.

Luis Enrique extended? Riolo circumspect

Some media outlets have thus mentioned the situation of a new contract for Luis Enrique. If the main interested party has remained undecided, this hypothesis is however not unanimous. Daniel Riolo, who has often pointed the finger at the personality of the technician, has shown his skepticism.

Luis Enrique, I think it’s a useless extension. He’s going to do it his second season anyway,”
dropped in the After Foot on RMC. With rare exceptions, 2-3 years for a coach in clubs is often the maximum. 3 years why not… There are few coaches who go beyond that. You can tell him ‘we’ll do 3 years and then we’ll see later’, why extend it now? There’s no risk that he’ll leave…” concluded Riolo.
