Portugal fans, and probably Paris Saint-Germain fans too, are holding their breath for Vitinha. A starter last night against Croatia (2-1), the 24-year-old midfielder had to give up his place at the very end of the match after a contact with his ankle. His coach, Roberto Martinez, has already confirmed that the Parisian is out of the next Nations League match against Scotland.

Vitinha is a player who has developed a lot in the last 12 months and has reached an exceptional level. He has an incredible ability to control the game, his sense of time and space and his technical quality. Given his qualities, he deserves to be on the Ballon d’Or list. He will certainly not play against Scotland. He has an ankle problem and we will assess him in the next 24 to 48 hours as medical tests need to be carried out.” said the Spaniard in the post-match press conference.
