Arriving after the summer market closed, Mats Hummels will strengthen the Giallorossi defense alongside Mario Hermoso, who also arrived on a free transfer after the end of the transfer window. Courted by many teams this summer after a remarkable season with Borussia Dortmund, the German defender explained his choice in an interview with the club’s media this Friday:
“For me it’s a really important transfer and I’m looking forward to this experience. I was looking forward to playing for this team, for this club, in front of the fans at the Olympic Stadium. As a child I grew up after Roma, especially Totti and my new coach, when I was younger I played against De Rossi, I’m very happy to be here and to be part of this club. (…) I’ll be up and running in two or three weeks.»
