Anthony Lopes, from the closet to the OL cellar

Anthony Lopes is no longer part of Olympique Lyonnais’ plans and the Rhone club made this clear to him on Wednesday, as part of the registrations for the C3.

Trained at Olympique Lyonnais, Anthony Lopes joined the professional team in 2011 and never left (or almost). But this summer, the club’s management made it clear to him that he was no longer part of Pierre Sage’s plans for the upcoming season. Lucas Perri’s backup in the first two Ligue 1 matches, he was no longer on the team sheet last weekend against Strasbourg. This time, OL chose not to include him on the lists for the C3.

As confirmed by the site Olympic and Lyonnaisthe Rhone club has therefore decided to do without the services of Anthony Lopes for the Europa League. While it had until Wednesday 23:59 to send its list of twenty-five names to play in the competition, OL has dropped that of Lucas Perri (the starter), Rémy Descamps (the new understudy), Justin Bengui and Lassine Diarra, (respectively third and fourth goalkeepers).

Cherki in list B

Another snub for Anthony Lopes who cannot even be added to list B in the event of injury or withdrawal of a player from list A, since he was born in 1990 and no player born before 2003 can be included, according to UEFA regulations. Dejan Lovren and Paul Akouokou are also not part of the various Lyon lists. As for Rayan Cherki, he is not on list A. The media has however confirmed that the Espoirs international has indeed been included on list B.
