Olympique de Marseille sent a very clear message on social media this Sunday.

The little game of the transfer window can sometimes lead to unhealthy situations. This summer, theMarseille Olympics did not hesitate to place several high-performing players in a “loft” in order to push them to find a way out. The cause: the contractual situation of the players, creating a need to sell in the short term.

Problem, not all the elements placed in this loft found a buyer, like Jordan Veretout. Announced in Lyon or Rennes, the 2022 vice-world champion finally stayed in Marseille, even if OL did not abandon this track. This situation generated a wave of incomprehension which turned into insults and threats against the player.

After placing him in the loft, OM defends Veretout

Olympique de Marseille came to the aid of its midfielder by criticising the unacceptable behaviour of certain supporters.

“Olympique de Marseille has become aware of the threats and hateful messages targeting one of its professional players and his family on social networkswe can read in an official press release.
The club condemns these unacceptable actions in the strongest terms. As announced during the last season, notably through Treizième Homme, the club reaffirms its commitment against all forms of harassment and deviant behavior online that have no place in sport or in society.
