Danilo Pereira leaves PSG and joins Al-Ittihad

It’s a page that is turning at Paris Saint-Germain. After joining the Parisian club in the last hours of the transfer window in 2020 for 16 million euros, Danilo Pereira (32 years old) had played a season on loan before seeing his purchase option be exercised the following year and becoming one of the executives of the Parisian club. But after four years spent there, the Portuguese international will try a new adventure far from Europe, since he signed with Al-Ittihad, in Saudi Arabia.

The former Porto captain had been the subject of several interests, notably from FC Porto, Fenerbahçe, Atlético de Madrid, but also from AS Monaco, but it was finally the Saudi club Al-Ittihad who managed to enlist him for a five million euro operation, as we revealed to you, while he only had one year left on his contract. He will now play alongside the team coached by Laurent Blanc, with Karim Benzema, Houssem Aouar, Moussa Diaby and N’Golo Kanté in particular.

Initially installed as a sentinel when he arrived at PSG, Danilo Pereira had not particularly convinced in this position, but was then repositioned as a central defender during the 2022-23 season, where he performed well. A page that is turning for the Portuguese international, who will have gleaned eight trophies, including three French championships, three Champions Trophies and two French Cups.
