Lucas Moura, the totally unexpected return

Almost six years after his last selection with Brazil, the former PSG player has once again been called up to the Seleção.

During the international break,
Brazil will play two qualifying matches for the next World Cup. On September 7 against Ecuador, then four days later in Paraguay.

Initially called up for these two matches, Savinho had to withdraw due to an injury. To replace the Manchester City player, Dorival called upon Lucas Moura. A return to the Auriverde selection rather improbable given that the former Paris Saint-Germain player had not worn the colors of the Seleção since October 2018.

Lucas Moura has 35 caps for Brazil since 2011, the year PSG poached him from São Paulo FC. A club he returned to in 2023, after wearing Tottenham’s colours for five seasons. A club Dorival coached last season before
take the Brazilian selection in hand in view of the Copa America.
