Greenwood takes OM to the skies

Thanks to a double from Mason Greenwood, OM temporarily took back control of Ligue 1 this Saturday evening in Toulouse (1-3).

Greenwood is clearly off to a flying start in Ligue 1. Five goals in his first three outings in the French championship, over the past 50 years, there is hardly anyone other than Mario Balotelli, with OGC Nice in 2016, who has achieved such a performance in the past. That is to say the contribution of the English firebrand for OM at the start of this season.

After a fast-paced start to the match by Toulouse in front of their home crowd at the Stadium, Greenwood took it upon himself to dampen the enthusiasm of the locals almost single-handedly. Well assisted, it is true, by Luis Henrique and a Quentin Merlin who once again appeared to be in his best form tonight on the offensive side, the former Red Devil, in two strokes of his paw, won everyone’s favor (0-1, 16e ; 0-2, 17e).

An OM a little too easy

TFC made things even more complicated for themselves as Frank Magri then saw red for a foul on Geoffrey Kondogbia (27e). From then on, Roberto De Zerbi’s men were able to control the match without taking too many risks, even finding themselves purring a little on the offensive, easily missing several opportunities to increase the score.

Charlie Cresswell, on an attempt by Luis Henrique following a caviar by Amine Harit, struck well against his own camp after the break (0-3, 52e), but the Olympians did not insist further. On the contrary, the Phocéens left the last word to the Violets, on an error of judgment by Geronimo Rulli which Shavy Babicka was able to take advantage of (1-3, 90e). Unfortunate, but anecdotal. After three days, OM is in control of the elite. Provisionally. While waiting for the Sunday clashes Lille-PSG and Monaco-Lens.
