EdF: Didier Deschamps could call up a Lille player today

You would almost have to dust off the history books to find a trace of a Lille player in the French team, but this long drought could end soon. Since Mike Maignan in 2021, or Jonathan Ikoné in 2019, several players could have taken over: Benjamin André or Leny Yoro, among others. If Bafodé Diakité still seems too green, it could however be Lucas Chevalier’s time.

As the newspaper explains The Team This Sunday, the third goalkeeper of the Blues, Alphonse Areola, is suffering from a back injury, he who was replaced this Saturday at half-time of West Ham – Manchester City (1-3). A point must be made today between the 2018 world champion and the French staff to assess his ability to participate, or not, in the gathering. If this is not the case, it is therefore Lucas Chevalier who will be called up for the first time in his career with the A. As a reminder, the Blues will face Italy on September 6, then Belgium on the 9th, as part of the Nations League.
