Olympique Lyonnais announced a new transfer this Friday evening, as the summer transfer window closes at midnight.

It was expected, it is now official: Orel Mangala leaves Olympique Lyonnais. Just 6 months after his arrival from Nottingham Forest, the Belgian international is on loan at Everton until the end of the season.

” Olympique Lyonnais announces the loan without option to buy of Orel Mangala to the English club Everton until June 30, 2025“, we can read in an official press release.

A departure that sounds like a failure

“The 26-year-old Belgian international midfielder, loaned by Nottingham Forest last January, has played 13 matches in all competitions with the club, scoring two goals in Ligue 1. Transferred permanently this summer, Orel Mangala remains under contract with OL until June 30, 2028,” continues Olympique Lyonnais.
“Olympique Lyonnais wishes Orel Mangala a very good season in the Premier League.”
This hasty departure sounds like a failure for a player who arrived last winter with the status of a star recruit.
