This Thursday, August 29, marks the start of Paris Saint-Germain’s European campaign.

After an epic run to the semi-finals in the first year of the Luis Enrique era, the
Paris Saint-Germain is diving back into its European jousts. This Thursday, all eyes are on the draw for this 2024-25 edition of the Champions League. A new look formula, both in the organization of the draw and in the running of the competition.

Exit the 8 groups of 4 for a field of 32 clubs: the new edition of the prestigious Champions League now brings together 36 European teams for a “regular season” in a single group. Paris, like all the clubs, will have to play 8 matches in this first phase, which should continue until February.

A hearty menu for PSG

What is certain is that PSG cannot approach the event like the 3 other French clubs involved in the tournament, Monaco, Brest and Lille. Unlike these 3 other representatives, the capital club is logically placed in the first pot.

  • Hat 1: Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, PSGLiverpool, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, FC Barcelona.
  • Hat 2: Bayer Leverkusen, Atletico Madrid, Atalanta Bergamo, Juventus Turin, Benfica Lisbon, Arsenal, Club Bruges, Shakhtar Donetsk, AC Milan.
  • Hat 3: Feyenoord Rotterdam, Sporting Lisbon, PSV Eindhoven, Celtic Glasgow, LilleYoung Boys Bern, Salzburg, Dinamo Zagreb, Red Star Belgrade.
  • Hat 4: MonacoSparta Prague, Aston Villa, Bologna, Girona, VFB Stuttgart, Sturm Graz,
    BrestSlovakian Bratislava.

Placed among the big names in the field, Paris Saint-Germain will have some great matches on the programme, such as Manchester City and Bayern Munich, but also Atlético de Madrid and Arsenal, considered the scarecrows of the second pot.

The PSG program:

PSG-Manchester City
Bayern Munich-PSG
PSG-Atletico Madrid
Arsenal-PSG
PSG-PSV Eindhoven
Salzburg-PSG
PSG-Girona
Stuttgart-PSG

As a reminder, the top 8 in this unique group will secure their ticket to the round of 16. From ninth to twenty-fourth place, everything will remain open and each club will have to go through a play-off. The last twelve will be eliminated.
