With Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia sidelined due to injuries, FC Barcelona only has Iñigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsí at centre-back. Jules Koundé, a centre-back by training, is now playing on the right wing. This means that Barça will have to work hard at the end of the transfer window to find a reinforcement for its rearguard. According to (Sports World))(https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20240828/1002305710/barca-presenta-oferta-jonathan-tah.html), Joan Laporta’s club has just offered 20 million euros to Bayer Leverkusen.

An undisputed starter in Xabi Alonso’s three-man defence, the German international (29 caps) was one of the leaders of the team that won the Bundesliga undefeated last season. He also played a major role in the German Cup victory and in Leverkusen’s run in the Europa League, all the way to the final (lost to Atalanta). However, there is little chance that Leverkusen will take this offer into consideration. Indeed, Bayern Munich, also interested in the 28-year-old player, offered 30 million euros a few weeks ago to the reigning German champions. But even with this offer, Bayer 04 had not let go of their defender, whose contract ends in 2025.
