If Jonathan Clauss chose to leave OM to join Nice, he has no regrets about his time on the Canebière.

This summer, Jonathan Clauss swapped the Olympique de Marseille jersey for that of OGC Nice. The French right-back explained this choice by a desire for renewal and a quest for serenity. After making his debut with the Aiglons during the first two days of Ligue 1, against Toulouse (1-1) and against Auxerre (2-1 defeat), the former Olympian expressed his enthusiasm for this new stage of his career on the Côte d’Azur.

“Let’s say that it was especially important for me to be able to refocus on the work and on the reason why I do this job. Of course, things have happened in the past, but it made me grow. And I also needed to find myself in this work on a daily basis. And to be able to flourish completely in another pattern and in another environment. Today I see it, it does me good. It’s different but that doesn’t mean it was negative in Marseille. It’s just different and it’s precisely a new challenge, a new step.”explained the Strasbourg native.

“I respected OM’s decisions without wanting to cause trouble”

Clauss prefers to focus on the positive aspects of his two seasons at OM. “Afterwards, concerning Marseille, I knew and I wanted to discover this context. Otherwise I would not have decided to sign there. And despite everything, with hindsight I found a lot of positive things there. We also discussed it with OM, I needed, like them, for us to find an agreement so that I could find a new challenge.”he said.

And to add: “I respected OM’s decisions without wanting to make a fuss. And in the end, it’s definitely a new life. It’s yet another life, because every time you change clubs you change the atmosphere, you change the context and you change everything. It makes you grow and it makes you evolve. But I find that all of this is extremely positive. And that’s what I keep from all the experiences I’ve had in the different clubs.”
