For his first performance at the Orange Vélodrome, Elye Wahi had a particularly complicated evening. Marseille supporters and Internet users did not spare him.

Sunday evening,
Marseille Olympics could not do better than a draw (2-2) at the Orange Vélodrome, against the Stade de Reims, on the occasion of the closing match of the second day of Ligue 1. Elye Wahi nevertheless had the opportunity to make the break several times.

Recruited for thirty million euros on August 13 from Racing Club de Lens, the 21-year-old striker was booed in the 66th minute of play. The Marseille number 9 missed three clear chances, including a ready-made goal, following a shot from Højbjerg pushed back on him by Diouf.

Wahi takes the tide on the networks

In a press conference, Roberto De Zerbi tried to defend his player. “He missed chances, he’s a sensitive boy, but he’s very happy to be here. The season has just started, it’s unfortunate for him to have been whistled, but he’s going to show what he can do,” promised the Italian coach of OM.

On social networks,
wahi has not been spared from criticism. Marseille supporters are likely to be much less intransigent towards this player than they could be with others. Indeed, during an interview given to France Bleu in May 2022, he assured that he would never be able to wear the OM jersey, emphasizing: “It’s a certainty, because I’m Parisian.”
