This Saturday evening, FC Barcelona chained a second victory in La Liga against Bilbao (2-1) on the 2nd day of La Liga. A perfect start to the season in terms of accounting for Hansi Flick’s team, but that does not prevent the club from being in trouble in terms of extra-sporting. Announced in the Barça group for this match, Dani Olmo was once again unable to play this match. The latest Barcelona recruit, bought for more than 60 million euros, is still not registered with La Liga since Barça is still blocked financially. And more worrying still, the departure of Ilkay Gundogan has not resolved this problem.
The German international was released from his contract to return to Manchester City when this was not really planned at the beginning of the summer. But the Blaugranas, with an urgent need for liquidity, had opened the door to a departure and especially wanted to free themselves from one of the club’s biggest salaries. The officialization of the departure did not allow Barça to register Dani Olmo who is seriously starting to get impatient. According to information from AS, the situation is even “critical” on the FC Barcelona side. The 26-year-old midfielder and his entourage are starting to ask questions and worry about this situation. Indeed, the Spanish media explains that the failure this weekend to be in the group against Bilbao was hard to swallow, especially since Barça had explained that Gundogan’s departure would resolve the situation.
Dani Olmo is getting impatient
In reality, things could only get back to normal once the club’s three departures are completed, namely Clément Lenglet to Atlético, Vitor Roque to Betis and Mikayil Faye to Rennes. For the last one, the official announcement took place this morning and it’s a nice sale, but he didn’t take up much space in terms of salary. For the other two, the uncertainty still remains and for very specific reasons. Vitor Roque is not registered in La Liga anyway and his departure will not really advance the case. AS explains that Barça must register Vitor Roque before the loan to the Andalusian team becomes official. Subsequently, La Liga will have to examine the deal in detail to know what percentage of the salary is paid by Barça.
The same problem applies to Clément Lenglet. If the Frenchman is already registered with La Liga (which could help register Olmo), he will only be loaned to Atlético. And we don’t yet know how the player’s salary will be distributed. The official announcement has not yet been made and this therefore delays the debut of Dani Olmo who, there too, will have to wait to see La Liga examine the Lenglet deal to know if he can be registered. FC Barcelona plays again this Tuesday against Rayo Vallecano. And the time seems short to authorize Dani Olmo to play, which means that he will miss another La Liga matchday (the 3rd already). Inevitably, this situation is starting to strain the main person concerned.
