A major French football executive has spoken out about the pricing policy of the new Ligue 1 broadcaster.

After obtaining the TV rights to the
Ligue 1the DAZN platform launched its service last weekend, on the occasion of the first day of Ligue 1.

DAZN, which is the only entity to have invested in broadcasting the French championship, is not spared from criticism. A very harsh judgment according to Laurent Nicollin, the president of Montpellier, who did not hesitate to come to the aid of the broadcaster.

“It’s supply and demand”

“Do I understand the outrage over this tariff? Outrage, yes, but it is more expensive in Italy, Spain, Germany or England, said the president of the MHSC in remarks given to the daily newspaper Le Parisien this Thursday. We are in a country of freedom, the guy who can subscribe does it, the guy who can’t doesn’t. At some point, if it’s expensive for some, it’s supply and demand.”

You don’t bring people out into the street with a gun and tell them to subscribe to DAZN, Nicollin continued.
Afterwards, it’s very French to criticize, but if that’s all you have to do… When I go to a restaurant, if it’s not good I don’t say I don’t like it, I’m not going to write notes, stuff…”. The message got through.
