There was no match for Paris Saint-Germain’s return to the Parc des Princes. Facing MHSC who had drawn against Strasbourg on the first day (1-1), the Parisians had no trouble following up on their first home game, after crushing Le Havre (4-1) as Luis Enrique’s men clearly performed. Without Ramos, injured, or Kolo Muani, left on the bench, Dembélé, Asensio and Barcola started the match, alongside new recruits Neves and Pacho.

Montpellier and Der Zakarian had anticipated the Parisian armada by opting for a five-man defense… which only lasted a few seconds. Well launched by Neves, Barcola used his speed to enter the area and unleashed a shot with the tip of his foot, finished with the help of the post (1-0, 4th). PSG quickly had total collective control and were dangerous on each attack. Constant danger, Barcola was able to cross his left side before serving Neves, who, without control, offered an assist to Asensio (2-0, 24th).

The Parisian attackers had a great time

In great difficulty in the first half, MHSC returned to the locker room with only two goals conceded, before completely cracking in the second half. Again because of Barcola, who was at the end of a great breakthrough by Dembélé (3-0, 52nd). The score was further complicated later with a volley from Hakimi, left alone on the right side by a Hérault defence that was absolutely underwater (4-0, 58th). Before Zaïre-Emery, author of a sublime little bridge over Kouyaté, left a manita to Montpellier (5-0, 61st).

The evening was perfect for PSG, who also launched a Doué who was already impactful for his first minutes in his new colors and decisive on the magnificent curling shot from Lee (6-0, 82nd). Leading with already ten goals scored in two games, PSG will then go to LOSC for its first strong match of the 2024-25 season. For its part, Montpellier will have to digest before hoping for its first victory of the season against Nantes.
