It was in the air, it’s official now. João Félix (24 years old) has definitively left Atlético de Madrid to join Chelsea. A club he knows very well since he had already been loaned there for six months during the 2022-23 season. After a stint at Barça last year, the Portuguese, who wore the number 14, has returned to the Blues. During his first interview since signing, the player explained his choice to the club’s official website.

“It’s a chance for me to find a home. After two loans, at Chelsea and Barça, I needed to stay in one place for good. There is no better place for me than Chelsea. I see a perfect place to shine. There were things that made me want to come back: the project, the club, the league, the fans, the time I spent here and loved it. I felt really good when I was here, despite the results we had. I’m really happy to be back. I have evolved as a player in many ways: the perception of the game and the spaces where the ball can arrive easily and where I can have more impact. I try to understand that by watching videos of my matches. I have changed a little since I was last here. I am 24 now. I will be 25 in November. I feel like I have grown as a player. That’s normal with age. I am better prepared for the Premier League. I feel like my best years are ahead of me. I have no doubt about that. The best years are yet to come. And this year is going to be a good year because now I am permanently at home and I can enjoy it. After words, now it’s time for action!
