Manchester United have reportedly hatched a new plan to sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester United’s rebuild under INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues at full speed in a bid to improve the Red Devils’ fortunes. With two weeks to go in the summer transfer window, United have completed the signings of Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui. They still have one target in mind: Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Ugarte, who is valued by the Ligue 1 giants at £51m.

According to The Guardian, Manchester United believe Ugarte’s price tag is too high and are prepared to wait until the transfer deadline to force PSG to reconsider their asking price. The Red Devils believe Ugarte is no longer in Luis Enrique’s plans and they may therefore be forced to sell the Uruguayan for a lower price as the deadline approaches.

United not giving up

The outlet suggests that in their attempt to reduce Ugarte’s price, Manchester United would be willing to include Victor Lindelof, Casemiro, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Scott McTominay in the deal. The latter two are the most likely players to leave Old Trafford this summer and their departures could be settled regardless of the status of Ugarte’s transfer with PSG.

The summer transfer window is set to close at 11pm BST on August 30, but United may want to get a deal done well before that deadline to avoid the possibility of the transfer falling through at the last minute.
