Absent from the squad for the match against Manchester City, Raheem Sterling is no longer in the good books at Chelsea. Asked about the future of the 29-year-old winger with the Blues, Enzo Maresca responded as follows: “In the coming days we will clarify things, if necessary, but I have already been very clear. It is a technical decision. I want the 30 players… but there is not room for all so some have to leave”. His departure, which now seems almost a done deal in the Italian coach’s mind, could allow the club to move forward on the Federico Chiesa case. According to Sky Italythe London club would still like to bring in the winger, who has become unwanted by Juventus.

The England international (82 caps, 20 goals) seems to be invited to look for a new club to make room for Chiesa. The Kingston native, who is currently the club’s highest paid player with nearly 20 million euros per year, is unfortunately not overwhelmed by requests after a disappointing season. The situation is therefore blocked for the moment but a sale of Raheem Sterling could very probably lead to the arrival of the Italian at the Blues. To be continued…
