The debut of new Parisian central defender Willian Pacho was not as convincing as hoped. During the first day of Ligue 1, the Ecuadorian international was singled out by observers for certain difficulties in adapting.

Willian Pacho made his debut for Paris Saint-Germain on the first day of Ligue 1 against Le Havre (1-4). Recruited for 40 million euros plus 5 million in bonuses, the Ecuadorian central defender did not completely convince observers during this first outing on the Normandy pitch. Among the critics, Eric Rabesandratana, consultant for L’Équipe, gave him a score of 4/10, pointing out certain shortcomings.

“I’ve watched him enough to know that he was a little late in certain situations in the duels. I think he didn’t understand how difficult the French championship is. Foreign players often arrive thinking that it’s easier than it seems, and they realize that in the duels, the French championship is very tough. He had difficulties with Casimir in front of him and I think he wasn’t yet well integrated into the automatisms.”judged the former French international.

“I think it might be…”

Régis Brouard, former Bastia coach, gave a similar opinion, rating his performance 5/10, while recognising some of Pacho’s defensive qualities. “I found him interesting on the defensive side of everything that happens in front of him”he explained.

However, Brouard expressed doubts about Pacho’s ability to handle situations behind his back, particularly on play-calls. “I think he’s good when he moves forward, he has a form of aggression, he’s strong and I think he has a lot of strength. But in reading the game, in relation to the relationship with others, I think he could be in difficulty behind his back “, he analyzed.
