Barcelona and Manchester City have been in talks over a new deal for the defender since the start of the summer. Cancelo has openly stated that he would prefer to stay at Barcelona and City are open to the idea of offloading him ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.
However, with progress slow, all options remain on the table in Manchester and Catalonia, with City sticking to their €25m valuation of the Portugal international. With Barcelona prioritising other targets and the club’s financial situation meaning they are likely to only offer another loan, Cancelo could remain at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola changes his mind about Cancelo
Pep Guardiola is open to reviving his fractured relationship with Cancelo: ” He’s back training with us. We’ll see what happens. Maybe he’ll stay, maybe he’ll go on loan. I don’t know yet.”according to information from BBC Sport.
Guardiola also confirmed that no official offers had been received for Cancelo since his return after the post-Euro 2024 break.
