Eight years after his retirement and a final tour by Fluminense, will Ronaldinho be reborn in football via his son, Joao Mendes?

Like his father, Joao Mendes has chosen to pursue a career in football. And like his father, the young man plays in the forefront.

This week, the career of this 19-year-old Brazilian winger took a decisive turn as he joined England and the Burnley club, recently relegated to the Championship, the second division of the kingdom.

A missed passage at Barça

The Auriverde talent has signed for two seasons, free of any commitment after a year spent at Barça, among the under-19s with whom he played little.

At the club his father played for between 2003 and 2008, Joao Mendes only played nine games, with no goals or assists to his credit. He learned his trade in Brazil, notably in the ranks of Flamengo and Cruzeiro before joining La Masia.
