Big blow for Manchester City. Oscar Bobb, a 21-year-old Norwegian winger, broke his leg in training on Wednesday, as reported by (The Athletic)(https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5701203/2024/08/14/man-city-oscar-bobb-injury-leg/). He was expected to start the Premier League opener against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The four-time English champions are hoping to have him back before the end of the calendar year.
Having arrived at City’s academy in 2019 from Valerenga, Bobb made his league debut last September. Since then, Pep Guardiola has kept him in the first team. On January 13, he gave City the victory on the pitch at Newcastle in the 91st minute (2-3). This summer, he played in all five pre-season friendlies and scored against Celtic Glasgow and Chelsea. The Norwegian international (8 caps) also started in the Community Shield on August 11, and provided an assist to Bernardo Silva for the equalizer in the 89th minute against Manchester United. City would eventually win on penalties (1-1; 7-6 after pen).
