Bayern Munich fans were understandably a bit surprised to learn that the club’s new coach would be Vincent Kompany this season. While the former Manchester City and Red Devils defender was an exceptional player, his first years in his new profession have been mixed to say the least. After a first experience on the bench at Anderlecht, Kompany took the elevator with Burnley, who he brought up to the Premier League before a nightmare season that ended with relegation in 2024.
If Bayern players aren’t sure what to expect from the former Citizens captain, they need only watch the documentary clip released this week about Burnley’s past season, which was marked by poor results and tension. It shows Vincent Kompany throwing a tantrum at one of his players, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, for his lack of effort and body language during training. The language is… flowery.

The former Belgium captain’s new players have been warned. He will not tolerate anything that he considers disrespectful in terms of behavior. He will obviously have a much flashier squad than the one he managed at the helm of the Clarets, but the pressure that comes with being a Bayern coach is immense.
