FC Barcelona cannot register Dani Olmo despite the 55 million euros and the 7 million euros spent to recruit him from RB Leipzig.

FC Barcelona’s financial constraints are not unknown, but despite these problems, the club has managed to make some high-quality signings in recent seasons. In the last transfer window, FC Barcelona managed to sign Euro 2024 hero Olmo from RB Leipzig.

Olmo has already started training with the Catalan club and is expected to feature in the Joan Gamper Trophy final against AS Monaco on Monday. However, it is not yet clear whether the club will be able to register him in the squad before the start of La Liga on Saturday against Valencia.

Barça in a deadlock

According to Cadena SER, the Blaugrana recently reached a deal worth €40 million with catering and logistics company Aramark, but they still need to find €60 million to cover outstanding payments from the sale of Barca Vision. If the club fails to raise the remaining sum, they will no longer be able to sign players for the 2024/25 La Liga season.

Besides Olmo, several other star players are still unregistered with the Spanish league, namely Vitor Roque, Inigo Martinez, Clement Lenglet and Eric Garcia. Sporting director Deco and president Joan Laporta will have to find a solution before the club officially kicks off the new season this weekend.
