The United States once again won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in the women’s section for the 5th time in their history.

This Saturday evening, the USA tamed Brazil by a score of 1 goal to 0 in the final of the Olympic Games at the Parc des Princes. It is a new setback for the Brazilians and their star Marta at this stage of the competition.

The Brazilian legend will therefore not win a major trophy with her country. The number 10 should end her career in the coming days. Despite the setback against the Americans, Olympic coach Arthur Elias did not hesitate to pay her a vibrant tribute in a press conference.

“It’s a personal decision that Marta has to make, to retire. She has a lot on her mind, all very intense. We’ve worked very hard these last 40 days. I’ve thrown myself into the work trying to do my best to help the players give the best of themselves. So I’m not thinking about that right now. I can only be very, very proud,” he said.

Before continuing: “And I am also very proud of Marta. It was a privilege to work with her. She is the best in the history of football. We can only learn from her, from her attitude, her passion, her dedication, the way she works with the other players, the trust we have developed. So I don’t know how to answer this question more precisely. I can only hope that we will value and recognize these athletes. We are all very proud of our national team. And of our number 10, our queen, Marta.”
