Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has agreed to sign a new long-term contract with the club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Fernandes will sign a new contract with United that will run until 2027 with an option to extend for a further year. The new deal will also see the Portuguese, who currently earns €286,000 per week, become one of the highest-paid players at Old Trafford.

Earlier this summer, the 29-year-old was linked with a move away from the club, with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain expressing an interest in his signature. Saudi Pro League giants and Cristiano Ronaldo’s club Al-Nassr were also keen on signing the star player.

Fernandes will not go to PSG

Fernandes was one of his club’s standout performers last season as they won the FA Cup. The Portugal international made 48 appearances in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing 13 assists, including one in the FA Cup final win over Manchester City.

The Red Devils captain will be in action again for his club on Friday when they take on Fulham in their Premier League opener at Old Trafford.
