During the official ceremony of the Paris Olympics, Michael Olise immediately put his silver medal away in his tracksuit, out of disappointment. A gesture that did not please Philippe Doucet.

He was one of the best players of this French Olympic team, and many are demanding to see him in the next list of Didier Deschamps. But Michael Olise made a small faux pas in the eyes of Philippe Doucet during the protocol ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

After the defeat of the Blues against Spain (3-5 aet), the new attacking midfielder of Bayern Munich immediately put his silver medal in his tracksuit. Which did not please the consultant of Canal+, who was reacting to the story of the reserve goalkeeper of the Blues deprived of a medal because he did not play.

“Michael Olise can give him his since he took it off immediately! No doubt to follow a stupid and disrespectful fashion! And yet I love this player… but there, he was very football 2024 and light years away from the Olympic spirit!”Philippe Doucet fumed via Twitter.

A lack of respect?

One could understand Olise’s disappointment, in the heat of the moment, just after coming so close to gold. And basketball player Evan Fournier did the same after the Basketball World Cup in 2019. But that’s not enough in Philippe Doucet’s eyes.

“A gesture that is supposed to symbolize a big disappointment (well, I imagine…). While we don’t doubt for a moment the player’s disappointment. So there’s no point in being rude and ill-mannered in the process (towards the competition, opponents, spectators, etc.)”, pleaded the journalist.
