It’s no secret that Désiré Doué is a sought-after man in this summer transfer window. The revelation of the 2022-2023 season in Ligue 1, the 19-year-old winger has taken on another dimension with Stade Rennais in recent months. After having had a promising season with his 4 goals and 6 assists in 43 games in all competitions during the 2023-2024 vintage, and despite the Breton club’s difficulties in catching the European wagon (9th in Ligue 1), the Angers native saw his efforts rewarded by joining the French squad to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

At the same time, the French international Espoir, under contract with Rennes until 2026, found himself at the heart of a fierce battle between two European giants: Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. The German club, coached by Vincent Kompany and greatly interested in the technical qualities and versatility of the 19-year-old prodigy, made an initial offer of around 35 million euros (bonuses included) to the SRFC management with a view to overtaking its Parisian counterpart. A proposal ultimately refused, because it did not correspond to the financial expectations of the Red and Black.

Désiré Doué gives his preference to PSG!

In the process, PSG took matters into their own hands by sending theirs. As we revealed exclusively on July 16, it amounted to 40 million euros, plus 10 million euros in bonuses, and was close to the demands of the Breton club (50 million euros + bonuses). But while the main person concerned was waiting for the end of the Olympic football tournament with the French team, beaten in the final by Spain, to make his final decision, he finally made the decision.

While the German press recently suggested that Bayern Munich had a head start in this matter, as they had managed to attract the Frenchman’s favour, we can confirm that Désiré Doué has finally chosen to join Paris Saint-Germain, visibly seduced by the speech of the Parisian leaders and Luis Enrique. Excellent news for the capital club, which had made him its priority after recruiting Benfica’s defensive midfielder, Joao Neves. The reigning French champion must now finalise his arrival.
