Real Madrid’s squad is ready for this summer according to coach Carlo Ancelotti, but if the opportunity arises to strengthen the team, he won’t be the one to put a spoke in its wheels.

Aymeric Laporte is one of the names that has been most strongly linked to Los Blancos in the transfer window.

Laporte is on the Atletico Madrid tablets and would like to return to Spain or Europe this summer. At Valdebebas, it is said that the Blancos would only move for an “opportunity” and, in Laporte’s case, that means he is available for free. Ancelotti has at least approved the signing of the star if it becomes a possibility.

Ancelotti validates Laporte

He is currently in talks with Al-Nassr to terminate his contract, according to some media in Saudi Arabia, but Diario AS claims that its sources have denied this information. The main problem is that Laporte is set to earn €48 million over the remaining two years of his contract and Al-Nassr spent €27 million to sign him from Manchester City last summer, so they are clearly reluctant to let go of the €51 million they already invested for a single season of his services.

The 30-year-old showed at Euro 2024 that he can still compete with the best, and after missing out on Leny Yoro, Ancelotti has reportedly asked the Real Madrid hierarchy to offer him another option. He accepts their stance that they have enough options in Jesus Vallejo and Aurelien Tchouameni, but he is reportedly open to signing him, and interestingly he is said to be a left-sided centre-back, with David Alaba the only other centre-back who fits that description.
