Thierry Henry’s French team opened the scoring in the final of the Olympic football tournament after a mistake by Arnau Tenas, the goalkeeper for the Spanish national team who plays for PSG.

Forty years after Luis Arconada, another Spanish goalkeeper missed a goal in a final against France at the Parc des Princes. On Friday night, Arnau Tenas let a shot from Enzo Millot slip to give Thierry Henry’s Blues the opening goal in the final of the Paris 2024 Olympics football tournament, in the 11th minute of the match.

Millot recovered a poorly cleared ball from a Spanish defender and immediately tried his luck with a floating shot from the left that surprised Tenas. The latter was not, however, disturbed by the atmosphere at the Parc des Princes since he is obviously a PSG player. The 23-year-old goalkeeper was selected six times by Luis Enrique last season, including three times in the Red and Blue’s lair.

The finale is completely overturned…

The French did not lead for long as La Rojita completely turned the situation around during the same first period. Fermin Lopez equalized shortly after, well found by Alex Baena (18th), then the Barça attacking midfielder gave his team the lead with a shot from Abel Ruiz pushed back by Guillaume Restes (25th).

The situation quickly got worse for “Titi” Henry’s team, as Alex Baena adjusted a free kick to make it 3-1 before the half-hour mark (28th minute). Fermin Lopez and Alex Baena (Villarreal) both won the Euro with the senior team last month in Germany…
