What if Fábio Carvalho embodied the new era of Liverpool? The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has played in all of the warm-up matches for the Reds in the United States. The Portuguese even found the back of the net against Arsenal and Manchester United. It remains to be seen whether Arne Slot will include him in his squad this season. But given Liverpool’s recent decision regarding him, it’s a good start. According to The Athleticthe Mersey club rejected a bid of 17.5 million euros from Southampton. Carvalho is a target of the Saints long-standing. They had even tried to attract him in January, before he left on loan to Hull City.

Loaned to the Championship during the second half of last season, the Portuguese U21 international (4 caps) scored nine goals and provided two assists in 20 games. There is no doubt that the upper echelons of Liverpool have followed his performances and hope that he can achieve them at home. Still according to the English media, Carvalho, whose contract ends in 2027, wants to stay at Liverpool. But the player recruited in 2022, from Fulham, mainly wants playing time.
