The supporters of theOM
Should they be worried about such a project? We would tend to answer in the affirmative. By profoundly upsetting its squad during the summer transfer window, the Marseille club is taking the risk of not obtaining convincing results in a fairly short period of time. Coach Roberto de Zerbi is starting from almost a blank sheet of paper and it will take him a little time, we suppose, for the machine to start producing its effect.
Pablo Longoria, the president of OM, has decided to renew all the lines. We note, a very rare event for a French club, the arrival of two Canadian internationals. Midfielder Ismaël Koné was transferred from Watford for 12 million euros, and defender Derek Cornelius (Malmö) was to sign this weekend. A transfer estimated at 4M including bonuses.
11 departures
English striker Mason Greenwood (Manchester United), French defender Lilian Brassier (Stade Brestois) and Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (Tottenham) are the other new faces, for the moment, at OM. The arrival of Valentin Carboni is also being talked about insistently.
The young Argentinian midfielder (19 years old) from Inter (Serie A) should be loaned for a season with a fairly high purchase option (around 40M) so that the Italians can recover him. OM would also discuss a one-year loan for
recruit Youssoufa Moukokothe German centre-forward from Borussia Dortmund, also aged 19.
In terms of departures, OM no longer has Iliman Ndiaye, Ismaïla Sarr, Jonathan Clauss, Pape Gueye, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Joaquín Correa and Jean Onana in its ranks, compared to last season’s squad. Vitinha, Mattéo Guendouzi, Jordan Amavi and Konrad de la Fuente, loaned in 2023-2024, are also leaving Marseille.
