FC Barcelona’s tight finances have once again put paid to the Catalan club’s recruitment ambitions.

Has FC Barcelona definitively buried the trail leading to Nico Williams? According to Diario AS, the trend seems to be going in this direction.

The Spanish newspaper recently reported that The Catalan club’s management considers the transfer of the Spanish striker so complicated that it considers the operation “practically dead”. So, the main obstacles in this case are “the pressure from his family and from Athletic Club.”

Barça moves to plan B

Victor Font, candidate for the presidency of the club against Joan Laporta, however denied this information, citing a lack of means to complete the signing of the Athletic Bilbao player.

“I wish we could sign Nico Williams because that’s what we need. The president (Joan Laporta, editor’s note) said it was possible, but it’s not true. Today it’s not possible. We hope it will be possible tomorrow. But today it’s not,”
said the Iberian leader for The Athletic.

Now, the Catalan management would be focused on the recruitment of Dani Olmo, another sensation of this Euro 2024. The question is whether the Blaugranas will have the necessary liquidity to complete the arrival of the attacking midfielder from Leipzig.
