Jean-Paul Boëtius finally sees the light at the end of the tunnel! In September 2022, the 30-year-old striker was forced to put his football career on hold when he learned he had testicular cancer during a urological check-up. After beating the disease for the first time, the former Dutch international was diagnosed last March with a new tumor in his lymph nodes. While he no longer played for Hertha Berlin, a club he joined in the summer of 2022 from Mainz, the Rotterdam native recently opened up about his fight against cancer. And the news is encouraging.

“I can finally say that I am well. I received good news from the hospital 15 days ago“, declared Jean-Paul Boëtius during an interview with De Oranjezomer before discussing his return to the pitch: “I’m ready! I’m in good shape, I want to play again.»
