Jean-Paul Boëtius finally sees the light at the end of the tunnel! In September 2022, the 30-year-old striker was forced to put his football career on hold when he learned he had testicular cancer during a urological check-up. After beating the disease for the first time, the former Dutch international was diagnosed last March with a new tumor in his lymph nodes. While he no longer played for Hertha Berlin, a club he joined in the summer of 2022 from Mainz, the Rotterdam native recently opened up about his fight against cancer. And the news is encouraging.

I can finally say that I am well. I received good news from the hospital 15 days ago“, declared Jean-Paul Boëtius during an interview with De Oranjezomer before discussing his return to the pitch: “I’m ready! I’m in good shape, I want to play again.»
