France-Argentina, torrent of racist comments for the Blues

After France’s victory against Argentina (1-0) in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games, in an already very tense context, some players of the Blues received a wave of racist comments on social networks.

They will not go on holiday together… Unsurprisingly, the quarter-final of the Olympic Games between France and Argentina ended in a climate of extreme tension, with the start of a general brawl on the pitch after the victory of the Blues (1-0).

It is important to remember the context: Argentina’s victory in the 2022 World Cup final, with post-match celebrations that went down badly in France; and, above all, this video of the Albiceleste players singing an openly racist chant against Les Bleus in the wake of their victory in the Copa America last June.

The French had a score to settle

The Blues, those of Thierry Henry, therefore had a score to settle on the pitch. This was felt during the match, notably when Loïc Badé let out an angry cry against an Argentinian striker after a successful intervention in the penalty area. This was also seen after the match, when the French players clearly displayed their joy in front of the Argentinian bench, notably Enzo Millot who lit the fuse. But the Stuttgart player assumes responsibility, if we judge by his post on social networks, where he pays tribute
“to France and its beautiful diversity”in a fairly clear message.

In response to all this, in addition to the collective altercation on the pitch, a torrent of hatred has flooded social networks, with dozens of messages on the accounts of Badé, Millot and the striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. On the menu: images of monkeys, African flags (especially that of Angola), and even a few chains, probably in reference to slavery. Disgusting…
