A few weeks before the resumption with AC Milan, Mike Maigna takes part in MMA sessions with a French star of the discipline.

Mike Maignan aspires to become the best goalkeeper in the world in the years to come. This is already not far from being the case, as the Parisian has been gaining momentum in recent years, with the added status of starting goalkeeper for the French team. Italian champion in 2022 with AC Milan, the former Paris Saint-Germain player would now like to find himself in a position to win the Champions League, while cementing his place in the national team’s cage.

Speaking of cages, it seems that Maignan is also attracted to them, but in another discipline. For several days now, the 2021 French champion with Losc has been training in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and not with just anyone. In the photos posted on social networks, we can see Mike Maignan exchanging blows and sparring with one of the best French fighters in the discipline: Salahdine Parnasse.

A future reconversion?

While he is not part of the UFC, the most powerful organization in the world, Parnasse is one of the most respected and feared French martial artists on the planet within the KSW in Poland. Since his professional debut, the Aubervilliers native has won 20 of his 23 fights, with two losses and one draw.

Perhaps these sessions, which are necessarily demanding on the cardio and mental level, will make Maignan, 1.91m, want to start a reconversion once he has figured out what he wants to accomplish in his career? Or perhaps he will use them to climb a few more ranks in the hierarchy of the best goalkeepers on the planet… At 29, Mike Maignan normally still has a few very good years to finish the game before moving on to new challenges…
